Good Experimental Music!
Hey - thanks for visiting Good Experimental Music! I'm Marc Masters, I've written about experimental music for decades, mostly recently the Bandcamp Daily column "Best Experimental Music on Bandcamp," which ran for seven years until my editors cancelled it (with only the vaguest of explanations) in April of 2026.
This newsletter is essentially a continuation of that column, which I always loved doing and which was a great way for me to hear good experimental music and meet good experimental music people! And then pass the awesomeness on to you!
At the end of each month, I pick and write about some of my favorite experimental music releases that have come out since the last post. That's free for anyone to read! Plus, every month I post a deeper dive into a single, especially-noteworthy experimental music release. You need a paid subscription to read that (though the very first one, posting this week, will be free), plus any other posts I might have time to write.
I was tempted to just call this newsletter Best Experimental Music, but I never really liked that title when I wrote for Bandcamp Daily - because who's to say what is "Best"? But I can pretty much guarantee you that the experimental music that I like is GOOD. Hence, Good Experimental Music. And now I can include stuff not on Bandcamp! (For alternatives, check out Catalytic Sound and Subvert if you!)
Anyway, thanks again for visiting, and who knows, maybe there will be more than two posts a month as I move forward. Hope you'll stick around to see!
Cheers!
Marc
